PORTRAIT OF FATHER
EUSEBIO KINO S.J.
|
Padre Eusebio Francisco Kino S.J.
In 1964 the Padre Kino Memorial Statue Committee commissioned Frances O'Brien of Tucson, Arizona, to compose a
portrait of
Eusebio Francisco Kino that would depict the "Pioneer Padre" as
historically accurate as humanly possible. Having studied dozens of photos of
family descendents, she first made a soft pencil sketch and later painted his
portrait in oil. This picture is a reproduction of the
pencil sketch; the oil painting is preserved at the Arizona Historical Society,
Tucson, Arizona.
