Kino Begins his Quarter Century of Work 330 Years Ago.

Dear friends of yhe “Eusebio Kino#” Facebook, vielen Dank für die Aufbewahrung auf die wichtigen Ereignisse von Padre Kino Leben!

On March 13, 1687, Kino accepted the invitation of the O’odham people of the village of Cosari and started his 24 years work as a Jesuit missionary in the Pimería Alta – now Northern Sonora and Southern Arizona. He would attend to both spiritual and physical needs of the O’odham speaking people and of other indigenous peoples. Kino battled those Spanish settlers who relentlessly sought to enslave the O’odham people and steal their lands. Cosari would become Kino’s mission headquarters for the 24 missions & visitas that he established. He named his first mission in honor of La Nuestra Señora de los Dolores – Our Mother of Sorrows.
